This Cognac Millésimé comes from a vineyard located in Brie-sous-Mathan, a village in the heart of one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Saintonge wine region, on clay-limestone terroirs. With a winegrowing history that goes back almost a thousand years, this quiet village is renowned for the quality of its vineyards. The winegrower had kept his harvests from the late 1980s and early 1990s, due to the economic crisis that hit the region hard from 1992. Sales had collapsed, and many winegrowers had been forced to keep previous years' harvests, for lack of a buyer. Old gold dress. On the nose, it's a Cognac characteristic of Fins Bois with slightly sweet, fruity notes (mango, blackberry, cooked pineapple), underpinned by a pleasant salinity, testifying to a terroir that's more mineral than clay. There's a certain length and a very nice balance to this aromatic whole, which makes you want to put it in your mouth. At first taste, this Cognac is supple, almost discreet, but very quickly it takes on amplitude. The palate is as greedy as the nose, the fruitiness extended by spicy notes that mark the 31 years of barrel aging. The finish is velvety, very fragrant, and makes you want to have a refill. An accessible Cognac, for lovers of traditional Fins Bois.
