Description

This old Cognac is not Millésimé but it benefits from a minimum age guarantee of 33 years. From an auction held in January 2019 to benefit Médecins du Monde and Actions contre la Faim. These Cognacs had been donated to these two associations by André BertanDeau, winegrower in Salignac-sur-Charente. Deported in 1942 under the STO (compulsory labor service) in Germany at the age of 20. By chance, he managed to survive until the liberation of the camp in 1945. Returning home to the family property, he regularly bore witness to what he had seen and experienced. He donated the meagre profits from his small property to associations throughout his life and, on his death, bequeathed all his assets - property, vineyards and stocks - to these NGOs in order to help those suffering from war and deportation. Old gold dress, amber highlights. On the nose, a complex, sweet Cognac, notes of ripe mirabelle plums, old waxed wood, candied apricots. On the palate, Cognac confirms its complexity, greedy, enveloping, yet delicate. An elegant, refined Cognac, a fine example of the "great" Petite Champagne, rich with that delicious fragility that the "real" Grande Champagne can't have.
