Description

This Cognac comes from an estate in Bonneuil, one of the best terroirs for Grande Champagne. The 3 casks purchased in 2012 from this family come from the undivided estate of André Noblet, who had made 3 different blends with his own father's eaux-de-vie. This is one of them. The casks of these precious Cognacs were stored in the farm's attic, on a wooden floor, where they were hidden. The history of this property is remarkable. André's father, Jules Noblet, mayor of his commune throughout the war, and his wife Berthe, were early Resistance fighters and active members from 1942 onwards in the Bureau des Opérations Aériennes. They took part in important missions, such as the destruction of the Angoulême powder magazine, and helped many people. Although the Charentes was a land of resistance, they were denounced by a Frenchman in March 1944 and arrested at home. Berthe and Jules Noblet, deported to Germany, never returned. The inhabitants of Bonneuil re-elected this courageous man as head of their commune in 1945, hoping in vain for his return. André, a prisoner in Germany from the start of the war, learned of the death of his parents on his return. Amber-colored cup. On the nose, the Grande Champagne signature is immediate, notes of balsamic, cocoa bean, precious wood. Beautiful alcohol, reinforced by a noble, racy rancio. On the palate, the attack is lively and clean, bearing witness to long cellar dry ageing, great finesse. Aromas of warm leather, red fruits. A powerful, vibrant mouthfeel, very long finish, very expressive, almost electric. Exceptional.
